Emergency assistance

Find the right next step for an urgent utility issue.

Immediate danger? Move to a safe location and call 911. Never approach a downed line or investigate a suspected gas leak.

⚡Power outageLoss of electricity or damaged electrical equipment⌄

Report the outage to the electricity distribution utility serving your address. For widespread outages, check its official outage map. Do not touch damaged lines or equipment. Find your provider in the directory beside this panel.

♨Suspected gas leakGas odour, damaged gas line or other gas safety concern⌄

Leave the area immediately. Do not operate electrical switches, phones, vehicles or flames near the suspected leak. From a safe location, call 911 or your gas distribution utility’s emergency number. This topic applies to Alberta natural gas service; the Texas directory below focuses on electricity.

↯Downed power lineFallen wires, sparking equipment or unsafe poles⌄

Treat every downed line as energized. Stay well back, keep others away, and call 911. Report the location to the electric distribution utility after reaching safety. Never attempt to move a line or objects touching it.

◉Damaged meter or service connectionUnsafe metering equipment or a service connection issue⌄

Keep clear of exposed wires, damaged enclosures or sparking meters. In immediate danger call 911; otherwise contact the distribution utility. Routine meter installations and upgrades should be requested through the utility’s normal service channels, not its emergency line.
